Effective date: April 8, 2026
Moda is built on a simple principle: your focus data belongs to you and stays on your Mac. We do not operate user accounts, we do not run analytics servers, and we do not sell data. This policy explains exactly what happens with your information.
All application data is stored locally in:
~/Library/Application Support/ModaOS/
This includes:
This data never leaves your machine. There is no sync service, no cloud backup, and no server that receives it. If you delete the app, you can delete this folder and every trace is gone.
Moda blocks websites using a local DNS resolver running at 127.0.0.1:53 on your Mac. When you add a website to your block list, the app configures macOS via NEDNSSettingsManager (a Network Extension framework) to route DNS queries through this local resolver.
Blocked domains resolve to 0.0.0.0 instead of their real IP address. All other domains pass through to your normal DNS provider unchanged.
This approach requires you to approve the DNS configuration in System Settings → VPN & Network → DNS. You can revoke this at any time.
Moda monitors running processes using macOS system APIs (NSWorkspace). When a blocked app launches, it is terminated at the process level. No information about which apps you run is collected, transmitted, or stored beyond the local session history on your Mac.
Moda does not require you to create an account. There is no sign-up, no email collection during onboarding, and no login. The 14-day trial starts when you first launch the app, tracked locally.
When you purchase a license, payment is processed by Lemon Squeezy (Merchant of Record). During checkout, Lemon Squeezy collects:
Moda receives a license key and your email (for license delivery and support). We do not receive or store your credit card number, PayPal credentials, or full billing address.
Lemon Squeezy's handling of your payment data is governed by their own privacy policy.
The current version of Moda does not include any analytics or crash-reporting services.
We plan to add minimal, privacy-respecting telemetry in a future release:
When analytics are added, this policy will be updated before the release ships. Both services were chosen specifically because they do not track individual users or sell data.
All local data can be removed by deleting the application support folder:
~/Library/Application Support/ModaOS/
Uninstalling Moda and removing this folder erases all traces of the app from your system. If you purchased a license via Lemon Squeezy, you can contact them or us to request deletion of your purchase record and email.
Moda is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy when new features are added (particularly analytics, as noted above). Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. For material changes, we will include a notice in the app's release notes.
